Staff Report / atxlocal.org

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Danger Statement for multiple counties in South-Central Texas, citing near-critical fire weather conditions expected today. The affected counties include Atascosa, Bandera, Bastrop, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, De Witt, Dimmit, Edwards, Fayette, Frio, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson, Wilson, and Zavala.

Residents are advised to be cautious with outdoor activities that may lead to wildfires. Recommended precautions include avoiding welding or grinding activities near grassy or dry brush areas, not parking vehicles in tall, dry grass, and refraining from tossing cigarette butts on the ground. Prompt reporting of any wildfires to local authorities is also encouraged.
