**Winter Storm Brings Significant Snowfall Across the Region**
This week's winter storm has blanketed areas across southeastern Oregon, the Treasure Valley, and Magic Valley with substantial snow totals. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a *Winter Storm Watch* for the region, warning residents of the potential for deteriorating travel conditions.
Between 5 a.m. Thursday, February 13, and 5 p.m. Friday, February 14, valleys received snow accumulations ranging from 1 to 6 inches, while mountain regions saw totals as high as 12 to 18 inches. Some specific snowfall totals reported by the NWS include:
- **Mountain Areas:** Soldier Mountain and Trinity Mountain experienced the highest snowfall, with totals between 12 and 18 inches. Other ski resorts such as Banner Summit and Bogus Basin recorded 8 to 12 inches, while Anthony Lakes, Magic Mountain, Brundage, and others reported 6 to 8 inches.
- **Valley Areas:** Boise, Caldwell, Emmett, Ontario, and Weiser saw 3 to 6 inches of snow, with areas like McCall and Cascade recording similar totals. Smaller accumulations of 1 to 3 inches were reported in areas such as John Day, Joseph, and Owyhee.
The NWS warned that blowing snow could further reduce visibility, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially on Thursday afternoon as the storm intensified. Drivers are encouraged to plan for delays and practice caution if travel is necessary.
