Idaho Sees Brief First 70° Days This Week
The U.S. National Weather Service in Boise, Idaho, has issued a forecast that a high pressure ridge will bring the first 70‐degree days of the year to the lower valleys early next week. The warmup is expected to result in temperatures that nearly reach record highs on Wednesday, with a few areas approaching 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The warm weather is also anticipated to increase snowmelt and raise river flows. However, this spike in temperature will be brief, as conditions are expected to cool back to near normal by late next week.
Forecast high temperatures for select locations are as follows:
• Baker City: highs ranging from 49°F on Saturday to 69°F on Tuesday, then cooling to 56°F on Wednesday and 52°F on Thursday.
• Banner Summit: highs from 29°F on Saturday rising to 52°F on Wednesday before declining to 32°F on Friday.
• Boise: temperatures climbing from 52°F on Saturday to 74°F on Tuesday and 71°F on Wednesday, then dropping to 56°F on Thursday.
• Bogus Basin: highs between 40°F on Saturday and 66°F on Tuesday, falling to 52°F on Wednesday.
• Brundage Mountain: temperatures increasing from 27°F on Saturday to a high of 52°F on Tuesday before cooling on Thursday.
• Burns: warming from 47°F on Saturday to 68°F on Tuesday and then 66°F on Wednesday.
• Caldwell: temperatures rising from 36°F on Saturday to 74°F on Monday with a slight decrease thereafter.
• Fairfield: starting at 36°F on Saturday with gradual increases, reaching 58°F later in the period.
Residents in the affected areas should note the brief period of warm weather and the potential for increased snowmelt leading to higher river flows, followed by a return to typical temperatures later in the week.
