On Thursday, a colder system will arrive, leading to more rain showers that will turn into snow at elevations above 4500-6000 feet, with a couple of inches possible on higher peaks. Steadier precipitation is expected near the Nevada border, including the Magic Valley. Rain and snow are projected to decrease on Thursday night, with highs in the valleys remaining in the 50s and mountains in the 30s and 40s.

Gusty winds are also forecasted, with speeds ranging from 20 to 35 mph today and increasing to 30 to 45 mph south of Boise into the Magic Valley on Thursday. Low temperatures on Friday morning may approach freezing, signaling the potential for areas in lower valleys to experience the first widespread freeze or frost of the season. Wind chills as low as the 20s are also expected due to the gusty conditions.
