**Snowfall Forecast: Low Chances for Valley Snow Across Treasure Valley**
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Boise, Idaho, snowfall probabilities remain low for most valley locations, including Boise, Meridian, and Nampa, as a weather system moves in late on Christmas Day.
Forecast data indicates the following snowfall probabilities for selected locations:
- **Boise, ID:** Expected snowfall is 0.0 inches, with a high-end potential of 0.2 inches. There’s an 18% chance of at least a trace (0.1 inches) of snow, but chances for 1 inch or more are 0%.
- **Meridian, ID:** Similar to Boise, the expected snowfall is 0.0 inches, with a high-end potential of 0.2 inches. There’s also an 18% chance for a trace of snow, but no chance for accumulations of 1 inch or more.
- **Idaho City, ID:** Snowfall potential is higher, with an expected snowfall of 0.7 inches and a high-end potential of 1.8 inches. There is a 78% chance of at least 0.1 inches of snow, a 40% chance of 1 inch or more, and a 9% chance of 2 inches or more.
- **Fairfield, ID:** Snowfall is forecasted at 0.4 inches, with a high-end potential of 1.0 inch. There’s a 64% chance of a trace of snow and an 11% chance of seeing 1 inch or more, but no higher accumulations are expected.
- **Caldwell, ID:** Snowfall is minimal with expected totals of 0.0 inches and a high-end potential of 0.1 inches. Only 4% of seeing a trace of snow.
Overall, valley locations should not expect significant snowfall for Christmas. Higher chances of snow are expected in Idaho City and surrounding higher elevations. Snow levels may drop to valley floors behind the system late in the day but are unlikely to result in notable accumulations.
While valley residents may need to wait longer for significant snowfall, areas in eastern Oregon, such as Baker City and Burns, could have better chances for snow.
