### Heavy Snowfall Hits Ski Resorts and Surrounding Areas During Storm

A substantial winter storm brought significant snowfall to the region from 11 PM Wednesday, December 25, to 8 AM Friday, December 27. Snow totals varied across the area, with some ski resorts seeing over two feet of snow while some lower-elevation areas stayed snow-free.

**Ski Resorts Experience High Accumulation**

The biggest snow totals were recorded at ski resorts, with the following main accumulations:

- **Anthony Lakes**, **Banner Summit**, **Brundage**, and **Trinity Mountain** received between 18-24 inches of snow.

- **Bogus Basin**, **Magic Mountain**, **Pomerelle**, **Soldier Mountain**, **Sun Valley**, **Tamarack**, and others saw 12-18 inches.

**Mountain Communities Receive Moderate Snow**

Mountain towns such as McCall and Cascade received between 8-12 inches, while areas like Lowman, Stanley, Fairfield, and Hailey accumulated 6-8 inches.

**Light Snowfall in Some Regions**

Lower-elevation areas, including John Day, Unity, and Joseph, experienced only light snow ranging from 2-4 inches. Towns such as Gooding, Jerome, and Halfway received 1-2 inches.

**Snow-Free Zones Reported in Certain Areas**

Many locations, including Weiser, Ontario, Emmett, Caldwell, and Boise, did not receive any snow during the storm.

The US National Weather Service in Boise reported that as the storm moved through the area, snow initially fell in parts of the Treasure Valley but later changed over to rain. Motorists were advised to expect longer commutes due to the hazardous conditions caused by rain and snow in some regions.

Further updates and snowfall reports will depend on changing weather patterns as the season progresses. For now, many resorts are benefitting from the significant snow accumulation brought by this storm.
