**Caldwell Expands Plastic Recycling Options**

Caldwell, ID – Residents of Caldwell can now expand their recycling efforts thanks to updates from Republic Services. The city is now accepting certain types of plastics in curbside recycling carts.

Acceptable plastic items include:

- Plastic bottles marked with #1 (PET) and #2 (HDPE), which includes milk jugs, detergent jugs, lightweight water bottles, and soda bottles.

- Plastic food tubs marked with #5 (PP), including yogurt and butter tubs.

It is important for residents to ensure that these containers are empty and clean before recycling. Lids should be left on the containers.

However, several items remain unacceptable for recycling. This includes all other plastics such as:

- Clamshell containers

- Plastic bags

- Styrofoam™ products

- Flower pots

- Berry boxes

- Beverage cups, whether plastic or compostable

- Loose lids

- Meat trays

- Motor oil bottles

- Containers larger than 2.5 gallons in size

Plastics identified with recycling codes #3, #4, #6, and #7 are not accepted in the curbside recycling program.

Residents are encouraged to participate in these recycling practices to support sustainability efforts in the community.
